When did the gerbera first appear?
Jan Glinovius was the first to describe the gerbera flower. This was in 1737. He named this Transylvanian chamomile in honor of his friend Traugott Gerber. And later, Carl Linnaeus introduced the plant into the classification of the natural world under the name "gerbera".
But the cultivated gerbera appeared after a century and a half. In 1884, R. Jason, a researcher, found a flower in South Africa. Now gerbera bouquets consist of exactly these flowers, which was discovered by Robert Jason.
What symbolism do gerbera bouquets have
Colorful bouquets of gerberas at different times carried different symbols. For example, the Egyptians believed that the gerbera was close to nature and symbolized love for the sun.
But the Victorians looked at this flower in two ways. Some of them were of the opinion that a bouquet of gerberas, regardless of the color and the situation in which it was presented, means joy and happiness. Others believed that gerberas symbolize secrecy and mystery. Thus, if you give someone such a flower arrangement, it may indicate your desire to make a secret surprise.
Gerbera and colors
The color range of gerberas is extensive. This will allow you to choose the flower of your choice. But we recommend choosing flowers not only based on your taste, but also taking into account the color of the bud. After all, each of them has its own meaning:
- yellow - associated with the sun and life energy;
- white - resembles a camomile. It is associated with childish simplicity and purity, innocence;
- cream - the desire to show their touching feelings and care in relation to another person;
- pink - a manifestation of respectful feelings, admiration;
- red - love feelings. But they should not be confused with the passion that red roses symbolize. A bouquet of red gerberas symbolizes calm love.
If a man gives a bouquet of red gerberas, then this should not be read as purely romantic intentions. Most likely, this should be taken as wishes for a happy life.
Features of donating gerberas
What to choose: a bouquet of gerberas of the same color or multi-colored? Here you can stop the choice on that, and on that option. If the person to whom you are going to give a flower arrangement likes elegance and simplicity, choose a bouquet of buds of the same color. So you can express your feeling of friendship, sympathy, sincerity and respect.
If you want to wish a person positive emotions, smiles, joy, happiness and well-being, a multi-colored bouquet will do. It will look colorful and juicy. If you contact professional florists, they will help you correctly place color accents in a bouquet so that it has the symbolism you need.
Note that non-leafed flowers are usually chosen for gerbera bouquets, so ask the store clerk to add some decorative green twigs. Then your bouquet will look even more voluminous and beautiful.
Choosing gerberas, you can be sure that they will please your loved one for a long time, since such a flower is distinguished by excellent durability. In a vase, it can stand up to twenty days.
